Level 3 Capital Advisors, LLC, is John Fullerton's holding company for his impact investment activities including direct investments, fund investments, and occasional strategic advisory engagements.
John gained experience purposefully aligning investments with social and ecological values beginning in 1997 while he was a principal at JPMorgan Capital, long before the term “impact investment” became fashionable. He led JPMorgan’s $20 million investment in a private charter school company and also explored alternative energy investment strategies for the firm. The experience planted the seed with John to think about the “purpose of capital.”
Today, John’s private impact investment portfolio remains a minority of his aggregate investments, but continues to grow in importance as he identifies new opportunities to align his capital with his values in an impactful way. The portfolio consists of specialized private fund investments, as well as direct investments in private companies involved in sustainable land management, food, and water. John is particularly involved in the challenge of reversing desertification together with the Savory Institute and his partner Larry Lunt as co-founders of Grasslands, LLC, and as Board Members of Savory Institute.
Capital Institute's extended network influences this investment practice, and in turn, our community benefits from this hands on experience which informs our work and keeps it practical.
